RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES OF THE NEW YORK TRI-STATE AREA TO AWARD A $20,000 SCHOLARSHIP
A talented Celia Cruz Bronx High School of Music senior to be presented with the scholarship
WHAT: Ronald McDonald House Charities of the New York Tri-State Area with the support of the Tri-State Area McDonald’s Owner/Operators, celebrate the academic accomplishments and educational goals of Caridel Hernandez, a talented high school senior who has been awarded with the scholarship.
The lucky winner will receive a surprise presentation in front of peers, teachers, counselors and family members. The winner will be awarded by WNJU Telemundo 47 with a check in the amount of $20,000 on behalf of RMHC®/HACER® to assist with educational expenses.
The RMHC®/HACER® program, which is the largest Latino scholarship program in the nation, awards college scholarships to Latino high school seniors on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, community involvement and exceptional leadership. To date, over $6 million have been awarded to more than one-thousand Hispanic high school seniors in the New York Tri State area.
The 2011 winners will be recognized at a special awards celebration at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday, June 22. A total of $300,000 will be awarded to more than 30 Hispanic high school seniors from the New York tri-state area.
